#PaxFedVGRewatch-along with #MissionLogPodcast and #TheDeltaFlyers continues with the curious case of the Drayans, aka "Innocence" - another episode I'd almost completely forgotten about going into this rewatch.
At its highest level, this is the story of a first contact gone awry, only to be set right in the end - another episode that could have been right at home in TNG, or even DS9; it reminded me a little of the latter's S2 episode "Shadowplay".
But really, this episode is about getting to know Tuvok better. His family life back home having been brought up several times in recent episodes, here we see Tuvok actually revisiting his parenting role, as a caretaker for three seemingly lost children.
Unsurprisingly (this is Star Trek, after all), things aren't quite what they seem. The truth, once revealed at the end, could have upended the entire story but instead brings it, like Tressa, full circle.
One thing that irritates me: "Innocence" is the third straight episode where Voyager is supposedly in desperate need of repairs or supplies, ends the episode without having obtained said repairs/supplies, and yet that's completely forgotten about before the next episode.
And as mentioned, this feels like a rejected or warmed-over story from previous series, so, given all the more eventful, momentous and otherwise memorable episodes that come right before and after "Innocence", it's no wonder I'd forgotten about this one.
