LilyA beautiful lizard that I spotted in Florida during my last trip there. I'm extremely interested in the animal kingdom (mainly birds, just fyi) and this lizard really sparked my interest. I hadn't seen one like that before.<br> <br> After searching the web, I'm almost 100% certain it's a male Peter's rock agama, or Agama picticauda. It has become increasingly common in South Florida over the last few years. First documented in Florida in 1976, this lizard is considered to be an invasive species. It originates from tropical sub-Saharan Africa.<br> <br> The male is approximately 20-30 cm of length, while the female is about 9.4-12.3 cm.<br> <br> My photo really isn't the best, but you can still see the lovely colors of this little guy!<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/crapwildlifephotography?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#crapwildlifephotography</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/lizard?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#lizard</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/animal?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#animal</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/florida?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#florida</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/petersrocklizard?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#petersrocklizard</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/lizardlove?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#lizardlove</a>

Anthony Horton<p>One of the Eastern Water Skinks in my back yard has been having a tough time of it. Not only has it lost its right rear leg at some point, but it's also recently lost its tail (it's a little hard to see in the photo, but its tail does *not* extend under that white box).</p><p>The missing limb looks like an old, fully healed injury so they must have been managing OK as a tripod, and the tail will regrow, but nonetheless losing it would be a setback. I left some food and water out near their hiding spot to help them out a bit.</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/LizardPosting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LizardPosting</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/SkinksOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SkinksOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/LizardsOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LizardsOfMastodon</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Skink" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Skink</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Lizard" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Lizard</span></a></p>

llewelly<p>random podcaster claim that bothers me: "Most reptiles are lizards, or things that look a lot like lizards."</p><p>But birds are reptiles, and in modern times, they outnumber non-bird reptiles, in both species and probably individuals as well.
